תיאור הקבוצה

התנ"ך הוא טקסט בעל חשיבות עצומה. אמנם, הוא מגולל את קורותיו של עם אחד ומניח את יסודות האמונה המונותאיסטית, אך כמו בתולדותיו של כל עם, הוא גם סיפור על הישרדות וניהול מאבק קיומי, על מלחמה ושלום, על כיבוש ושיעבוד. ואולם, מאז התבססות חקר היחסים הבין-לאומיים כתחום אקדמי באמצע המאה שעברה, כמעט ולא נעשה מאמץ ללמוד ולהפיק לקחים מהיצירה המקראית לשדה הפוליטיקה העולמית בת זמננו. קבוצת "יחסים בין-לאומיים בתנ"ך" מניחה שאפשר להיעזר ביצירה המקראית לחקר היחסים הבין-לאומיים, במטרה לחשוב ולהרהר בצורה ביקורתית על תיאוריות בתחום, ולפתח תובנות חדשות לגביהן. מעבר לתרומה האקדמית, אנו סבורים כי מחקר מסוג זה יתקבל בעניין בקרב הציבור הרחב, כביטוי לחיבור של נכס צאן ברזל של העם היהודי לשאלות פוליטיות עדכניות בכלים "חילוניים". אנו מזמינים דוקטורנטים ומאסטרנטים מכל הדיסציפלינות להצטרף להרפתקה אינטלקטואלית ולקדם פרויקטים מחקריים עצמאיים בחיבור שבין התנ"ך לפוליטיקה העולמית, כיד הדמיון הטובה עליהם.

International Relations in the Bible

The Bible is a text of utmost importance. Although it tells the history of one nation and lays the foundations for monotheism, like in the history of all nations, it is also a story about survival and existential struggle, about war and peace, occupation and subjugation. However, since the establishment of International Relations (IR) as an academic field of research in the mid-20th century, little effort has been made to draw lessons from the biblical text to modern-day world politics. "International Relations in the Bible" group postulates that the Bible can be of value to the study of IR, allowing us to think critically about extant IR theories and develop new understandings and perspectives. Beyond the academic contribution, we believe that research of this kind would be of interest to the general public, as an expression of the linkage that can be made between an inalienable cultural asset of the Jewish people and current political questions, using modern tools. We invite PhD and MA students from all disciplines to join us on an intellectual adventure and promote unique, innovative, and independent research combining world politics and the Bible.
