31.01.23 - מפגש שלישי: בין פילולוגיה לבלשנות

במפגש השלישי דנו בצמיחת הבלשנות מתוך הפילולוגיה ובמתחים הקיימים עד היום בין תאוריה בלשנית לבין פילולוגיה. מנחת הדיון הייתה הללי הראל, החוקרת את הלשון המצרית העתיקה מזווית סוציולינגוויסטית. בין היתר, דנו בשאלת ההבדל בין פילולוגיה לתאוריה בכלל ולתאוריה בלשנית בפרט, בתולדות הפילולוגיה והבלשנות, במגמות בחקר הבלשנות התאורטית שהתרחקו אל עבר ההפשטה (כגון הבלשנות הגנרטיבית) ולעומתן במגמות אחרות שהחזירו את המוקד להקשר החברתי, היסטורי ואנושי (כגון הבלשנות החברתית).

 

Third Session: Between Philology and Linguistics

In the third session we discussed the emergence of linguistics out of philology and the tensions that exist to this day between linguistic theory and philology. The moderator of the discussion was Haleli Harel, who studies ancient Egyptian from a sociolinguistic angle. Among other things, we discussed the question of the difference between philology and theory in general and linguistic theory in particular, the history of philology and linguistics, trends in the study of theoretical linguistics that moved away towards abstraction (such as generative linguistics) and on the other hand those that returned the focus to the social, historical and human context (such as sociolinguistics).
