במפגש הראשון מוביל הקבוצה איתי קגן פרש את חזונו על מטרות הקבוצה ומהותה: מסגרת שבה יכולים חוקרים צעירים של הארמית לגווניה לשפר את יכולות הקריאה שלהם, להרחיב את גבולות הקורפוס והדיאלקטים שהם בקיאים בהם, וליצור קשרים עם מומחים לתחומים סמוכים. לאחר מכן, כל משתתף הציג את עצמו, את מחקרו ואת ידיעותיו וענייניו בארמית. תחום בלתי צפוי שעלה אצל כמה משתתפים הוא העניין בשימוש בארמית בתרבות הישראלית של ימינו: בספרות גבוהה, בכתיבה היתולית ובאומנות רחוב.

החלק השני של המפגש כלל קריאה יחפה של הטקסט הראשון: מגילת אנטיוכוס הארמית. קראנו כמה פסוקים מכתבי יד וטיקן 26 (שטרם פורסם), וקיבלנו טעימה מחיבור זה ומיכולות המשתתפים ותחומי עניינם. קריאה קצרה זו הייתה קדימון לקראת המפגש הבא, שיוקדש כולו למגילת אנטיוכוס.

In the first meeting, the group leader Itai Kagan introduced his vision for the aim and essence of the group: creating an environment for young scholars of the varieties of Aramaic to improve their reading skills, to expand the boundaries of their corpora and dialects, and to connect experts from different fields. After that, each participant introduced himself, his research and his experience and interest in Aramaic. An unexpected field that has been mentioned by multiple participants is the use of Aramaic in present-day Israeli culture: in high literature, in humoristic writing and in street art.

The second part of the meeting consisted of a sample reading of the first text: the Aramaic Antiochus Scroll. We read the first few verses from the unpublished manuscript Vatican 26, and got a taste of this text and of the participants' abilities and interests. This short reading was a peek-view for the next meeting, which will be dedicated entirely to the Antiochus scroll.
