תיאור הקבוצה
העיסוק ברגשות כתחום מחקר התבסס במאה הקודמת, תוך שהוא נשען במידה רבה על ייצוגים מלאכותיים של הבעת רגש (בתחום התפיסה הוויזואלית, למשל, הבעות פנים שגולמו על ידי שחקנים מערביים היוו את הבסיס הבלעדי להנחות יסוד בתחום), או על הבחנות קטגוריאליות תיאורטיות שהוסקו על סמך ראיונות, שאלונים וסימולציות במעבדה. בשנים האחרונות מתחדדת ההבנה כי על מנת לעמוד על טיבם המורכב של רגשות יש חשיבות רבה לניתוח הבעות רגש בהקשר הטבעי שבו הן מופיעות, ובהתחשבות במגוון נתונים שמשפיעים על התעוררות הרגש, אופן ביטויו והשפעת הביטוי עצמו על החווה ועל הסביבה. מחקרים אלה מאתגרים תפיסות קודמות הנוגעות לרגש, לייצוגיו ולביטוייו בדיסציפלינות שונות, ומדגישים את הצורך בשיתוף ידע וכלים מתחומים שונים.
קבוצה זו תעסוק בבחינת ביטויי רגש בהקשרים מגוונים, ובדיון בכלים תיאורטיים ומתודולוגיים מדיסציפלינות שונות שישמשו לבחינה זו. בין ביטויי הרגש שאליהם נתייחס יהיו הבעות פנים, מחוות גוף, שימוש בשפה, שימוש בקול ואמצעי מבע אמנותיים.
הפעילות בקבוצה תשרת שתי מטרות מרכזיות: (1) יצירת מרחב רב תחומי שיעשיר את היכולת המחקרית של המשתתפות והמשתתפים. (2) יצירת רשת של חוקרות וחוקרים שישתפו פעולה במחקרים אינטרדיסציפלינריים, שאותם הפעילות בקבוצה תקדם. זאת לצד קריאת עומק במחקרים קיימים ודיון בעבודות המחקר של חברות וחברי הקבוצה.

Emotion expressions in context (Maya Lecker - Psychology & Yael Gaulan - Linguistics)
The traditional academic study of emotions, developed in the previous century, relies heavily on artificial representations of emotion expression (basic assumptions in the field of visual perception, for example, are based on facial expressions played by Western actors), or on categorial theoretical descriptions derived from interviews, questionnaires, and simulations in the lab. In recent years it has become clear that in order to gain a better understanding of the complex nature of emotions, it is crucial to examine them in more natural contexts, and while considering the various elements which cause the emotion, the ways it is displayed and the consequences of its display on the experiencer and on others. Such studies challenge previous perceptions regarding emotions and their expressions in various disciplines. Moreover, these works demonstrate the need for interdisciplinary collaboration in discussing emotions, which is still not common.
This group will deal with examinations of emotion expressions in various contexts. It will discuss theoretical and methodological tools from different disciplines. We plan to focus on the following emotion expressions: facial expressions, body gestures, verbal language, and artistic devices (visual, acoustic, performative).
The group’s activity, based on reading and discussing relevant articles and the members’ projects, will promote two main goals: (1) to create a multidisciplinary space, which will enrich the participants’ research repertoires. (2) to establish a diverse research network, which will lead to interdisciplinary collaborations.
