In this next chapter, Freud begins to consider the 'altruistic' elements of human society and weighs them against our 'aggressive' impulses. We decided that it would be interesting to turn to anthropological literature and see how early human societies fared in terms of violence and cooperation. In addition, what can we learn about the communities of other great apes and how they behave and communicate towards one another.
