Julia Scneidawind, LMU Munich - Trajectories of Book Collections of German-Jewish Intellectuals through Time and Space

In my dissertation project, I discuss the fate of book collections and their owners. For this purpose, I am tracing the history of the transmission of private libraries, starting from their context of origin, the transition to new contexts and places after 1933, and I am examining the question of where and in what form the collections continue to be preserved to this day. How are the libraries of German-Jewish intellectuals perceived today in their new contexts and how do they relate to the fates of their previous owners? In a short presentation, I introduce the subject and approach of my project.
