Thoughts on Occupation: The Israeli Occupation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip (1967-) - Third meeting (7.4.20): Borders under the Occupation

On Tuesday, the 7th April we held our third session in the group "Thought on the Occupation".
The title of the session was "borders under the Occupation". We circulated two articles and discussed them on Zoom.
Walid and Clemence (non-HUJI PhD) organized the session and presented each one a small PowerPoint.

There were seven participants, and the discussion expanded well. We also incorporated the idea of coronavirus expansion in light of the borders under the occupation. For this purpose, we sent out three media article on the subject. And it appeared that the way coronavirus is interacting with the borders was the dominating subject during the session.

some of the interesting ideas were:
1- there is a distinction in the literature between borders and frontiers. The participants presented different ideas about how to perceive the West Bank-Israeli borders in light of this distinction.

2- The Palestinian-Israeli economic integration proves that borders between both sides porous economically, but impermeable politically.
