"מגנטיות מודרנית – ספינטרוניקה, מגנומטריה ומחשוב לא קונבנציונלי" (ניראל ברנשטיין- פיזיקה)

מגנטיות היא תופעה יחסותית שנצפתה לראשונה לפני כמעט 3000 שנים ומאופיינת בכח משיכה או דחייה בסיסי אשר כבר במאה הראשונה לספירה נוצל לבניית מכשור יעיל והוא המצפן. מאז, המשיכו מדענים לחקור ולנצל את המגנטיות לשורה ארוכה של מכשירים ששינו את חיינו: מנועים, שנאים, MRI, ומכשירי ניווט מתוחכמים. כיום, בחזית מחקר המגנטיות עומדת ההבטחה לרכיבי זכרון מגנטיים מהירים ולפריצות דרך בתחום המחשוב הקוונטי ומחשוב התואם בינה-מלאכותית.

בקבוצת הדיונים שלנו, נחפש לקרב בין תחומי המחקר השונים בתחום המגנטיות. נשאף לייצר שיתופי פעולה בין מעבדות בעלות יכולות מדידה שונות ונתמקד במחשבה על הפיכת ממצאי המחקר שלנו לרכיבים ממשים.

Magnetism is a relativistic phenomenon that has intrigued scientists since the days of Aristotle in ancient Greece. It continued to captivate the imagination of researchers through the application of the first magnetic device, the compass, by the Chinese almost a millennium ago. Nowadays, the fundamental understanding of magnetism is applied in variety of devices such as: motors, electronic transformers, and, more recently, memory devices that allows our everyday web-cloud activity. In academia, the field has experienced a Renaissance, holding the promise for quantum computing, breaking Moore’s law, and opening the opportunity for new computational paradigms suitable for artificial intelligence applications, low-cost MRI, and more.

Our discussion group will bring together young researchers working in the various fields of Magnetism. Our group will aim to develop collaborations between the different magnetism labs and their different capabilities and will focus on the applications of the participant’s research findings.
