"גלוקאל": פרספקטיבות מקומיות לסוגיות גלובאליות (שירה ורדי ועינט קרמר – עבודה סוציאלית)

תהליכים אנושיים ותרבותיים משמעותיים שהתרחשו בעשורים האחרונים, ביניהם - גלובליזציה, התפתחות טכנולוגית מואצת, גידול האוכלוסין והתחזקותם של תרבות הצריכה והקפיטליזם המערבי -  השפיעו ועדיין משפיעים השפעות מרחיקות לכת על איכות הסביבה, על בריאות כדור הארץ ומשאביו, ועל יחסי הגומלין בין האדם לטבע. על אף ההשפעות הגלובאליות מרחיקות הלכת, עיקר הגילויים וההתמודדויות עם תופעות אקלימיות וסביבתיות הם לוקאליים, כלומר – מתרחשים בתוך ובמסגרת קהילות מקומיות, ולכן מרחבים אלו הינם המפתח להבנת ממשקי אדם-סביבה. קהילות מקומיות אלו מעוגנות לא רק בהקשר פיזי או גיאוגרפי, אלא גם בהקשרים תרבותיים, חברתיים, כלכליים ופוליטיים. מרכיבים מקומיים כמו: תפיסות רוחניות ודתיות, ערכים, מבנים חברתיים וגאופוליטיים, רעיונות של צדק חברתי וסביבתי, הון אנושי וחברתי - משפיעים כולם על יכולת ועל סגנון התמודדות עם משברים סביבתיים בפרט, ועל פעולות, עמדות ומעורבות של שחקנים מקומיים כלפי הסביבה בכלל.

מטרת קבוצה זו הינה להאיר, הן תיאורטית והן מעשית, את הפנים הרבות של המושג 'גלוקאליזציה'. במפגשים נעסוק במקורותיו, בביטוייו בטריטוריות ובהקשרים שונים, נבצע קריאה ושיח על טקסטים רלבנטיים העוסקים ב'גלוקאלי', וכן נקיים סיור לימודי שיחשוף יוזמות סביבתיות מקומיות ומעוררות השראה. משתתפים מהדיסציפלינות הבאות העוסקים בהיבטים שונים ומגוונים של תופעת הגלוקאל יתקבלו בברכה לקבוצה: גאוגרפיה, מדיניות ציבורית, אנתרופולוגיה, ניהול משאבי טבע, משפט סביבתי, חינוך, פסיכולוגיה סביבתית, לימודי קהילה, לימודי עירוניות (urban studies), בריאות הציבור.

“Glocal”: Local perspectives on global issues (Shira Vardi & Einat Kramer – Social Work and Social Welfare)

Noteworthy human and cultural processes in the last decades – globalization, accelerated technological development, population growth, and the strengthening of western capitalization and consumerism – have all led to prominent environmental effects at the global level, like the depletion of natural resources, damages to biodiversity, and severe climatic phenomena across the globe. However, most appearances, endeavors, and coping with environmental issues occur within local places and communities. Therefore, the key to understanding human-environmental interfaces is focusing on these communities, anchored not only within physical and geographical contexts but also in social, cultural, economic, and political ones. Various local components affect the individual's ability, awareness, and coping styles within local communities facing environmental challenges: social values; religious and spiritual beliefs; human and social capital; place attachment, geopolitical and social structures; and perceptions of environmental (in)justice. 

This group aims to illuminate, both theoretically and practically, the multi-faceted concept of 'glocalization'. In our meetings, we will trace the concept's origins, reveal its various expressions in different contexts, engage in a group reading of relevant texts, and (hopefully) conduct a study tour exploring inspiring local environmental endeavors. We invite participants from the following disciplines: Geography, Natural Resource Management, Public policy, Sociology, Environmental Psychology, Anthropology, Education, Public Health, Community and Urban studies. The group will be alternately meeting face to face and online via Zoom.
