"תפקידה של הטכנולוגיה בעת החדשה" (יואל בוטביניק - תקשורת וארי בן אריה – לימודי תרבות)/  "The role of technology in modern times" (Yoel Botvinik - & Ari Ben Arie – cultural studies)

אנו מקיימים יחסים קרובים, שזורים ועוטפים יותר מתמיד עם הטכנולוגיה, בעוד שהאחרונה הולכת ומגבירה את השפעתה על מגוון שדות של פעילות אנושית - מכלכלה, פוליטיקה ותרבות ועד פנאי, עבודה ותהליכי סובייקטיפיקציה אישיים. במציאות הנוכחית עלינו כחוקרים וחוקרות לתת את הדעת לאופן שבו הסוכנות הטכנולוגית משפיעה, מעצבת ובאה ביחסים הדדיים עם המבנים התרבותיים, הפוליטיים והקוגניטיביים של האדם. קבוצת הלימוד שלנו תבקש אפוא להעניק במה לשיח מתחדש, המבקש להעניק מבט-על - מתחומי הפילוסופיה, החשיבה הביקורתית ומדעי האדם - אודות תפקידה של הטכנולוגיה בעת העכשווית.

פעילות הקבוצה תסוב סביב דיון בהוגים ופרספקטיבות שונות המתייחסים באופן יצירתי ועדכני להיבטים השונים של המציאות הטכנו-דיגיטלית. מתוך אמונה בכוח ובחשיבות שבלימוד יסודי של תיאוריה ובניסוח של תיאוריה מתחדשת בשיח המחקרי -  הסילבוס יכלול התעמקות בסוגיות כגון משילות אלגוריתמית, קפיטליזם של המעקב, טכנולוגיה ופוסט-חילון, יצירתיות אמנותית של בינה מלאכותית, תרבות נגד דיגיטלית ועוד. ההוגים וההוגות אותם נקרא , בין השאר, יהיו יוק הואי (Hui), ברנרד סטיגלר (Stiegler), אנטואנט רוברוי (Rouvroy), דון איידי (Ihde), חירט לובינק (Lovink), דונה הרוואי (Harraway) וקתרין היילס (Hayles).  מטרת הגיוון הדיסציפלינרי - תקשורת, משפט, ספרות, פילוסופיה ואמנות - בתחומי ההגות הנשקפים מהשמות השונים, הוא להנכיח בדיוני הקבוצה את אותו גיוון מחקרי הנצרך לדעתנו למחקר עמוק על אודות הטכנולוגיה.

In recent times, humankind and technology are becoming exceedingly intertwined and entangled, while digital technology exerts its increasing influence over all domains of human activity, from politics, economy, and communication to leisure and education. In light of this, we see it crucial that the humanities research community provide a platform for an ongoing discussion regarding technology's effect on social, political, and cognitive structures. Thus, our research and study group aims to establish such an interdisciplinary forum for the purpose of investigating technology's role in contemporary times through the lens of philosophy, critical thinking, and the humanities in general.

Our group’s activity will revolve around the study and discussion of contemporary key thinkers, all of whom offer interesting, novel, and innovative perspectives for understanding and theorizing the current technological configuration. We will study and read, among others, the work of Bernard Stiegler, Donna Harraway, Don Idhe, Antoinette Rouvroy, Geert Lovink, Katherine Hayles and Yuk Hui. Through our discussion of the thinkers mentioned above, we will delve into different issues at the intersection of technology and society, such as ‘algorithmic governmentality’, ‘art in the era of artificial intelligence, ‘digital counterculture,’ ‘surveillance capitalism,’ ‘technology and post secularism, ‘post-humanism’ and more.
