בעולם המודרני, יישומים של תורת ההסתברות נמצאים כמעט בכל מקום, החל מניתוחים סטטיסטיים וכלה במודלי למידת מכונה ו- AI. בתורה, תורת ההסתברות המודרנית נשענת במידה רבה על תורת המידה, ענף מתמטי המנסה להפוך לפורמליים מושגים כגון גודל, מסה והסתברות.

במפגשי הקבוצה, נקרא ביחד על תוצאות מרכזיות בתורת המידה ונדון במשמעותן.
נקרא על ההיסטוריה של תורת ההסתברות ונדון בשאלה מדוע התעורר הצורך בבסיס תיאורטי עבור מושגים ורעיונות מרכזיים בתורת ההסתברות. בנוסף, נדון בנושאים מרתקים שעולים בעת בניית מערכת שכזו, כגון אקסיומת הבחירה ופרדוקס בנך-טרסקי.

In the modern world, applications of probability theory are found almost everywhere, from statistical analyses to machine learning and AI models. Modern probability theory heavily relies on measure theory, a branch of mathematics that seeks to formalize concepts such as size, mass, and probability.

In the group meetings, we will read together about key results in measure theory and discuss their significance. We will explore the history of probability theory and discuss why a theoretical foundation was needed for its main concepts and ideas.
Additionally, we will delve into fascinating topics that emerge in constructing such a system, such as the axiom of choice and the Banach-Tarski paradox.
