קרה לכם שאתם מגיעים לרגע שבו צריך להסביר מה אתם עושים במחקר שלכם — בפגישה משפחתית, בשיחת מסדרון עם דוקטורנט מתחום אחר, או אפילו על במה בכנס — ופתאום זה מרגיש מסובך יותר ממה שחשבתם?
לכולנו יש מחקר שאנחנו חיים ונושמים, אבל כשהגענו להסביר אותו מחוץ לעולם הצר של התחום שלנו — לא תמיד ברור איך לספר אותו כך שיהיה ברור, מסקרן ורלוונטי לקהל שמולנו.
אם גם אתם מרגישים שזה כישור משמעותי שחשוב לפתח, ושיש המון ערך בלמידה הדדית — הקבוצה הזו בדיוק בשבילכם: מרחב תומך, קבוע ומשותף, שבו נתרגל יחד איך להפוך את המחקר שלנו לסיפור שמצליח לעבור הלאה — לקהלים שונים ובסיטואציות שונות.
בשלב הראשון ניצור יחד שפה משותפת: נלמד את עקרונות הסטוריטלינג, נתבסס על חומרים מקצועיים מתחום הסטוריטלינג, כמו מודלים של בניית נרטיב (אריסטו, ג'וזף קמפבל רולאן בארת). בהמשך נעמיק בהיבט הייחודי של סטוריטלינג מדעי: נקרא יחד מאמרים שמנתחים כיצד מדע מסופר לקהלים שונים — באקדמיה ובציבור — ונדון באתגרים ובהזדמנויות שנמצאים בלב התקשורת המדעית.
לאחר שנכיר את הבסיס, נעבור לתרגול מעשי במגוון רחב של פלטפורמות שבהן אנו נדרשים לספר את המחקר: כתיבת אבסטרקט למאמר, הצעות למלגות, הרצאה בכנס, פוסטר, הרצאת שלוש דקות, פוסטים ברשתות חברתיות, סרטוני YouTube, פודקאסטים ומה שירצו בקבוצה. כל משתתפת ומשתתף יוכלו לתרום דוגמאות מתחום המחקר האישי שלהם — ובזכות הגיוון בין תחומי הידע בקבוצה, נוכל לקבל פרספקטיבה רחבה יותר.

How to Tell and Communicate Science
Have you ever found yourself needing to explain what your research is about— at a family gathering, in a hallway conversation with a PhD student from another field, or even on stage at a conference — and suddenly it feels much more complicated than you expected?
We all have research that we live and breathe, but when time comes to explain it outside the narrow world of our field, it’s not always clear how to tell the story in a way that’s understandable, engaging, and relevant to the audience in front of us.
If you also feel that this is an important skill to develop — and that there’s great value in learning it together — this group is for you. It’s a supportive and collaborative space where we’ll practice together how to turn our research into a story that resonates — across different audiences and situations.
First, we’ll build a shared language: we’ll learn the principles of storytelling, drawing on professional materials from the field — such as classical narrative models (Aristotle, Joseph Campbell, Roland Barthes). Later, we’ll delve into the unique aspects of scientific storytelling: reading and discussing papers that analyse how science is communicated to different audiences — in academia and to the public — and exploring the challenges and opportunities at the heart of science communication.
Once we’ve built this foundation, we’ll move on to hands-on practice across a variety of platforms where we need to tell our research story: writing article abstracts, scholarship proposals, conference talks, posters, three-minute presentations, social media posts, YouTube videos, podcasts, and more — depending on the group’s interests. Each participant will be invited to contribute examples from their own research field — and thanks to the diversity of disciplines in the group, we’ll gain broader perspectives and deeper insights together.
